8 Best Morning Sickness Remedies

Pregnant Woman Experiencing Morning Sickness

Many changes happen to a woman's body when she is pregnant, and morning sickness is only one of them. Vomiting and nausea are natural parts of the process, but the truth is that they can cause significant discomfort. If you are a birthmother considering giving your baby up for adoption, there are some remedies for morning sickness you should explore to make this period a little easier for yourself.

Don't Get Hungry

During pregnancy, nausea can get much worse if your blood sugar level drops from not eating often enough. Apart from eating three healthful meals a day, you should also plan snack times in between.

Choose the Food you Eat Wisely

Proteins keep your body's sugar level stay stable for a longer period of time. This is why including proteins in every main meal is highly recommended. Also, it's a good idea to keep protein-rich seeds, nuts, and protein bars in your purse. It is good to eat something high in protein every night before you go to sleep, as well as in the morning. Peanut butter, yogurt, and smoothies with protein powder are all good choices. Besides protein, you should also eat plenty of carbs, since this makes the perfect duo in combination with proteins. Fruits like bananas and apples are good since they are packed with natural sugars. A bagel with peanut butter is also a good combination of protein and carbohydrates.

These foods are also an excellent choices to help fight morning sickness:

  1. Ginger has been used to ease stomach pain for centuries. Eat it raw, as a supplement, or put it in your tea. You could also try drinking ginger ale.
  2. Peppermint is also used to treat stomach pain. Anything from smelling quality essential oil, or lighting a candle to drinking peppermint tea can help you feel better.
  3. Lemon is a popular choice to beat morning sickness. Adding some lemon juice into water or tea can help. It would be best to combine lemon juice and ginger with peppermint, raspberry leaf tea, or herbal tea.
  4. Anise or fennel seeds are known to soothe an upset stomach, and the best way to consume them is to chew on them or infuse them in some herbal tea.

Supplements

Many supplements, such as vitamin B6, iron, and magnesium may contribute to relieving you of your morning sickness. Check with your provider or doctor before taking these supplements just to make sure everything is done correctly. If you don't want to take these, consider eating food that is rich with these nutrients, such as pistachios, sunflower seeds, spinach, avocado, beans, and dark leafy vegetables.

Stay Hydrated

Avoid beverages with high percentages of acid and caffeine, such as coffee and soda, since these may upset your stomach. Drink room temperature or warm water with a bit of lemon and ginger, and make sure to drink something when you wake up during the night to go to the bathroom. You should check if your urine is relatively clear, since it is a sign you are drinking enough water.
