We are so excited that you’re looking at our profile! Thank you for taking the time to give us a chance to let us share our story! There are so many worthy families here, and we’re honored that you’ve found your way to us. You have to make the hardest decision of your life, but get to make a couple’s dream for children come true. No matter what family you choose, to us even being willing to make that choice means you’re a hero. We couldn’t be happier to think about the future- now that there is someone like you, bringing hope for families like us. We would be overjoyed if your heart led you to choosing us, and becoming a member of our family in whatever way is best for you. Your child would always know just how much he/she is loved by us all.
We met in a spectacularly geeky way- in a Star Trek based chat room in 1998. We corresponded via telephone, letter and email in an international romance until 2008 when we were married. We’re an unashamedly geeky family, who spend many of our spare weekends in a reenactment group called the Society for Creative Anachronism. We follow the ideals of honor and chivalry as we recreate the Middle Ages the way they should have been. We also enjoy Geocaching, a high-tech scavenger hunt game, taking the player to interesting places, overlooked in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our dog, Winston is a particular fan of this pastime, because it means extra walks. Richard likes to say that Diane saves the world when she goes to work as a Neuro-telemetry nurse. Richard is a former army medic, who went into IT, and is now a student working on building a business from home.
Our Home & Pets
We live in the greater Chicagoland area, in a peaceful but growing suburb. The farm that was once in our backyard has been turned into a new neighborhood, with a huge park for kids to play in and a lake for fishing. Two blocks away, there is a forest preserve, with biking trails and a nature conservatory. We really love our neighborhood. We also have a lovable German shepherd/ Whippet mix, named Winston, who loves nothing more than curling up on his pillow in the sun.
Our Extended Family
Richard and Collin, recently immigrated from the Netherlands to the USA and maintain regular contact with the rest of the family in the Netherlands. He has 2 brothers, a sister, a niece and a nephew. Proud of his Dutch heritage, we make sure the language skills don’t die so at home Dutch conversations are just as common as English ones. When we visit Richard’s home village, it’s a whirlwind of geocaching, barbeques and other Dutch outdoor activities depending on the season. Diane is an only child, but she goes on regular breakfast dates with her dad, a family tradition. The people of the SCA have become our chosen family and I can’t think of a better group of people in which to raise children.
What Led Us To Adoption
We were married when Collin, Richard’s son from a previous relationship, was 7 years old. He is now 16 years old, and has been asking for siblings since before we got married. After trying to conceive a baby both naturally and with the help of doctors with no luck, we discussed our options. Our dream is to raise a baby together. Diane’s father Roger, and all of her uncles were adopted, so adoption seemed like the perfect way to build our family.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence
As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.
Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.
The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.
Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!Return to Waiting Families
