dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for considering making this beautiful yet difficult decision. We are excited about the idea of welcoming a child into our lives, but we can only imagine the emotions and the fears you are experiencing as you are making this decision.

We want you to know we would be grateful and honored to parent the baby you are carrying in your belly. We will give them a life full of opportunities. We love traveling; we have friends and family all over the world, and we look forward to having one more travel buddy joining our next trip. We are both college professors, and education is going to be the number one priority. We mean education in the broadest sense, not just school but the entire world as a classroom.

Above all, we are a kind and intelligent couple who plan to raise a child to be anything and everything they want to be. We will not impose any preconceived notions of who we want the child to grow up to be. Instead, we’ll do our best to accompany them in the process of discovering who they are and who they want to become as they are growing up. As a gay couple, we are aware that society is not always kind to people who feel different; we are going to raise your child celebrating what sets them apart, without ever making them feel bad for who they are.

We are good listeners. We are happy to talk through any doubts, answer any questions, and listen to your hopes for this child’s future.

Sending you a big hug,
Nebo & Jeffrey

About Us

We are a kind, outgoing, funny, and at times a bit nerdy couple of college teachers. Jeffrey is a professor of Japanese poetry, whereas Nebo teaches comparative literature. We are very passionate about our jobs; we both love literature, and we get to teach the books we love to students and travel the world for our research. We enjoy going to museums and to the movies, taking long hikes, exploring new cities, and playing Code Names with our friends. We lived in Italy for a couple of years before coming back to the States in 2021. We have many friends, old and new, in Italy and the States, who visit us often and with whom we love spending our free time.

Our Home

We live in a leafy neighborhood in a small, dynamic city in Rhode Island. Our sunny home with a balcony is walking distance from a historic downtown and several world-renowned universities. On days off, we drive to Boston for sightseeing or to Connecticut to see submarines. On summer weekends, we drive down to the beach, and in the fall, we drive up to Vermont for leaf viewing. New York City is just an Amtrak ride away. We live in a big, two-bedroom apartment with a big living room and dining room. Jeffrey’s grandparents used to collect all sorts of art objects, so our walls are covered with paintings, photographs, and old maps, and there are funny statuettes and weird marble objects in each corner of the house!

Our Extended Family

Nebo is Italian, and his family lives in Italy. His mother and father are in their late fifties, and they are looking forward to becoming grandparents. His mother is planning to retire and move to the States to help with the baby. He has a younger brother who works as an engineer and many cousins with whom he’s quite close. In the summer, we enjoy spending a day all together at the lake or having a barbeque at our favorite spot on the hills just outside the town where Nebo grew up.

Jeffrey was born and raised in Chicago. Jeffrey is very close to his father and sister; he can go only a few days without one of their funny and chaotic group FaceTimes. Grandpa Dale is 85 years old and loves telling wild stories about his youth; he has stories about his years in the Navy, about the time he traveled South America on a motorcycle, and about his involvement in the music industry that we all enjoy hearing about over and over!

What Led Us To Adoption

We’ve always wanted to have a family. We recently moved to Rhode Island and realized we had the emotional and financial resources to start our family. When we considered our options, we agreed adoption was the right path for us. We are convinced we can provide a happy and loving life for a child. We look forward to offering a life full of opportunities to the child we are lucky enough to have join our family. After talking to several agencies, we chose Angel because their priority is the well-being of the expectant mother. We wanted to work with an adoption agency that would honor the wishes, hopes, and needs of the expectant mother.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
