dear expectant mother

Firstly, this is a beautiful gift you are considering sharing with us. We feel honored that you’ve taken the time to consider us as a potential family to parent your child.

As a French teacher, Julie cannot wait to raise a bilingual child. She has the perfect job for raising children – she is home all summer and the December break, and during the school year she does not go in to the office every day, so she has a lot of time at home. Matt is looking forward to camping, playing soccer, and keeping your child active, happy, and healthy throughout their life. Our dog, Atreyu, can’t wait to lick a little salty face. We are excited to grow the curiosity and creativity of your child by going to the zoo, to parks, to museums, by constantly learning new and amazing things about the world together. We hope to provide the space and opportunities for your child to be open, adventurous, humble, creative, and above all, his or herself.

Most importantly, we want this child to be surrounded by love. We want your child to know their story and to always know how much you love and care for them. We hope to keep in contact with you, if you wish, throughout your child’s life. Throughout our journey together, we have learned a lot about listening to and being there for one another. We plan on being there for you, as well. We are here to support you as you make your decision, and we want to welcome you and your child into our lives.

About Us

We met in 2007 in Oklahoma. Matt was bartending at a restaurant when Julie and her friends went out for a girls’ night – she was not prepared to meet her future husband! Matt wasn’t prepared either – he had already committed to the Air Force, and left five months later. But, we kept in touch and communicated using songs on MySpace (we are dating ourselves!). We got married in Hawaii in 2011. Now, Matt works for the Department of Homeland Security as an analyst and serves in the Air National Guard. Julie is a professor of French literature at a large university. We have traveled all over North America for our jobs: we’ve lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland, Hawaii, and British Columbia, Canada! We are now happily settled in the Midwest.

Together, we enjoy hiking, cycling, daily walks with our dog, traveling, and cooking. Julie loves yoga, reading, swimming, and spending time with friends. Matt is an avid soccer player and fan. He loves running, watching football and soccer, and listening to podcasts. We are a silly, fun couple, best friends, and we love living life together.

Our Home & Pets

We recently bought our two-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow with a finished basement, great backyard, and an amazing kitchen for people who love to cook! It is located in a well-established neighborhood in our city, with houses over one hundred years old, all of different styles and sizes, and with beautiful old trees providing ample shade. We are steps from a well-manicured bike and walking path, which connects to the hundreds of miles of trails in our area. We are also within walking distance of a fun gourmet grocery store, parks, great schools, and a delightful Caribbean restaurant.

We have a fox-terrier mix, Atreyu (his name comes from the movie The NeverEnding Story), who we rescued while living in Hawaii. He is 26 pounds with a giant personality, and always keeps us laughing.

Our Extended Family

Matt grew up as an only child, but gained a stepmother and two quirky stepbrothers about 10 years ago. His father is retired. His mother takes care of his spunky 94-year-old Grandma Rose and makes beautiful wreaths, which she sells on Etsy. We often spend Christmas at the lake with Matt’s family, kayaking or boating or just relaxing in the house.

Julie has one sister, Gayle, who is a biochemist/cat lady, married to witty architect husband, Jordan. We live a lot closer to Julie’s parents now, and we enjoy visiting them about three times a year. Thanksgiving is a very important holiday for Julie’s family, as it involves a lot of cooking and eating. Every year we try to spend Thanksgiving with Julie’s family, and go bowling with Gayle and Jordan. Atreyu loves visiting his grandparents’ house - he’s an excellent vacuum.

What Led Us To Adoption

We always knew we wanted children, but discovered fairly soon after getting married that we were unable to do so the “conventional” way. We both have adopted family members, so adoption just seemed natural to us. Julie has two cousins adopted from Korea. Matt has one cousin adopted domestically, who has a great relationship with her birth family and her adoptive family. We know that adoption is the right and most exciting decision for us. We love kids and can’t wait to open our home and our lives to a precious baby!

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
