dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

What a journey you’re on. We see and acknowledge that, and we respect you so much for trying to think about not only what’s best for you but what’s best for your baby. We want you to know, if you choose us, we are going to honor you as best we can by being the absolute best parents we can be for your baby.

We also want to try to extend any comfort we can by letting you know Maggie is adopted. She was born in South Korea and was adopted by a Caucasian family living in a predominantly white neighborhood. We say all of this because Maggie understands firsthand what it means to be adopted. She also understands what it means to look different from your family and most of your community and how that impacts you as a young person. As a mixed couple and potentially having a baby who doesn’t look like either one of us, we are prepared for whatever comes our way and will first and foremost love and protect your baby.

We are open to doing whatever you feel most comfortable with when it comes to our collective future: you, the baby, and us. We will respect any decision you make. Thank you so much for considering us to be parents for your baby. We are grateful for you and the gift you would potentially be giving us.

Hopeful,
Chris and Maggie

About Us

We have an adventurous, thoughtful, and loving partnership as husband and wife and as each other’s best friend. We love our careers; Chris manages a large team for a tech company, and Maggie is a company culture consultant helping smaller organizations be great places to work. However, we also love spending time together traveling, snowboarding, and hiking; hanging out with our family and friends; and being with our dog, Barry. Over the years, we have truly dialed in on our communication styles with one another and believe that is one of the most important elements of any relationship. We complement each other in the best ways now and believe this will be beneficial when we become parents as well. Overall, we’re a team and see each other as equals.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a family-friendly, diverse neighborhood in East Tennessee, where we have easy access to great hiking trails and a large river that runs through the city. We have awesome neighbors and an awesome community at large. We live in a two-story home with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Our home is warm and cozy, and most of the walls in our home are covered with art, mainly made by Maggie’s mom. We have so much natural, bright light that fills the house, even if it isn’t a perfect sunny day. We have a golden retriever named Barry who loves to get pet and play fetch. He also loves snuggling, whether that’s on our laps or right next to us.

Our Extended Family

Maggie has two older brothers and a mom and dad. One of her brothers is married and has two girls under the age of 7. Maggie’s extended family lives all over the Southeast. She has a total of 14 cousins on her dad’s side who all have at least one child. Maggie’s family on her dad’s side has an annual family reunion in the mountains of North Carolina every July 4th weekend. Maggie’s grandmother just turned 100 years old!

Chris has one older sister and one older brother with special needs. Chris’s sister has three girls all under the age of 7. Chris has almost 50 cousins. Family get-togethers on his dad’s side can be considered large-scale events! Most of them live in Tennessee as well, so it’s easy to stay connected with most of them. On Chris’s mom’s side, he has two cousins who he’s close with, who also have children of their own.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are the holidays with the most traditions. We do our best to ensure we spend ample time with both sets of families. We can’t wait to begin our own traditions as a family unit.

What Led Us To Adoption

The decision to adopt came very easily to us as Maggie is adopted. Maggie’s entire family, immediate and extended, are also huge fans of adoption since Maggie and her family had such a positive experience with it overall. We talked about adopting one day from the get-go. It has always been top of mind for both of us, so making the decision to adopt was a no-brainer. We believe adoption is one of the most special ways to grow a family, and this is a very intentional decision we are making. We are beyond excited to add to our family in this way.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
