dear expectant mother
Thank you so much for taking some time to get to know us! We are John and Katie, and we are grateful you have chosen to look through our profile. We can’t imagine all of the things you might be going through right now and the difficulty of the decision you are facing. We send you our warmest thoughts and wishes and know you will find the right path for you and your child.
Over the past twelve years, we have built a strong and loving marriage, and we truly feel like a team, helping and cheering one another along. In 2016, adoption transformed our team of two into a family of three! Our son, Grayson, is a very sweet and smart little guy with a great sense of humor and a great love of trucks! We are extremely grateful to Grayson’s birthmother for choosing us as parents, and we feel so fortunate to have an open adoption with lots of contact between our families.
Being parents has shown us so many joys of raising a child, as well as some of the challenges and hard work that come with this role. We are very lucky to have one another, plus wonderful families who live nearby, on our adventures in parenthood. We would love to share our unconditional love and support with another child, and we would welcome the opportunity to get to know you better as you continue to explore options for you and your child.
We met as young freshman in high school and began dating in college. A few years later, we were married by Katie’s uncle while surrounded by our family and friends. It’s hard to believe we recently celebrated our 12th anniversary; the years have flown by and have helped us grow up and grow together in so many ways. John now owns a successful small business and enjoys swimming, yard work, and watching movies on Netflix. Katie works as an occupational therapist in an elementary school and likes to read mysteries, garden, and shop with her mom. Of course, we both love spending time with our son Grayson, playing trucks and trains, reading stories, swimming in our pool, and taking walks in the neighborhood and along the lakefront. We also love to spend time with our families, especially over a good meal!
Our Home & Pets
We live in a safe, friendly, and diverse neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest side, and we are lucky to live only fifteen minutes from Katie’s parents and thirty minutes from John’s parents. We own a three-bedroom, two-bathroom brick house with a beautiful fenced-in yard, a large deck, and an outdoor swimming pool, and we share our home with Ella, our sweet and affectionate calico cat. Our house is only a block from the local playground, which we visit almost daily with Grayson! We are also just minutes from several parks and forest preserves, a sports complex, and our local library. We both grew up in Chicago and are very happy to be raising a family in a city with so much to offer.
Our Extended Family
We are both lucky to have wonderful families that are loving, supportive, and close by! Katie is an only child and is extremely close to her parents and her Aunt Mary, who all live just fifteen minutes away. John is the oldest of three children, with a younger brother and sister; his parents live thirty minutes away in the same house he grew up in.
We are fortunate to have both sets of grandparents help watch Grayson while we work. Oliver, John’s brother, lives in a nearby suburb with his wife and young sons, and Annie, John’s sister, lives in beautiful southern California with her husband and son; we are lucky to see them often throughout the year. We have frequent family dinners, often with both families together, and even celebrate holidays as one big family. Days at Chicago’s beaches, trips to John’s family farm in Wisconsin, and pool parties at our house are just some of the ways we have made great memories together as a family.
Our Adoption Story
We became parents to our son, Grayson, in 2016 through adoption, and he has been the biggest joy and blessing of our lives! Watching him grow, explore, interact, and have fun is amazing, and we are very grateful to have a loving and open relationship with Grayson’s birth family. We talk via text and send pictures frequently. We also recently traveled to Georgia to see them and had a great visit! For us, maintaining and growing our relationship with Grayson’s birth family is both a privilege and a top priority. We are hoping to grow our family again through an open adoption and look forward to sharing our love, and the love of our families, with another child.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence
As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.
Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.
The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.
Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!Return to Waiting Families
