We are beyond thrilled to start our family and finally become parents. We couldn’t pretend to know you or the path that led to your decisions, however, we are grateful that you have made the effort to see who we are and the values that are most important to us.
We want to reassure you that a child in our life, home, hands, and family will be lavished with love, experience the joy that fills our lives, and will be raised in an environment of immense gratitude, respect, and a commitment to family that defines who we are.
As kids, we ran the gamut of activities trying to find out what interested us most and what kind of activities brought out the best in us. We have lived in foreign countries and have deeply experienced other cultures and we bring an appreciation for uniqueness into our lives that is fundamental to who we are. We will share that same enthusiasm with our children, encouraging their paths as they try new things, discover themselves and find their fit in the world, with the best guidance, love, and support we can give them.
Kiana loves her work as a special education teacher, teaching children on the autism spectrum, among other learning disabilities. She enjoys diving into a good book, trying out new cookie recipes, and going for long runs on the lakefront. She is a mentor to young girls through volunteering in the Girls on the Run leadership development program at her school, and is also passionate about dance, recently becoming a hip-hop dance fitness instructor. Kiana is so looking forward to a career change to being a full-time mom.
Jamie has spent the last decade-plus launching and managing companies, ranging from renewable energy to software, and has a blast being an entrepreneur. Jamie has been a Peace Corps volunteer in both the Philippines and Ecuador, has also lived and worked in Puerto Rico and Jamaica, and loves learning about new cultures. He reads and goes running every chance he can get. His quick wit keeps us in stitches and makes sure that we never take ourselves too seriously.
We don’t miss an opportunity to bring out the best in one another, encourage each other to look for the best in others, and laugh as often as possible. We love to travel, head to the nearby zoo, sharpen our cooking skills, and explore hidden cultural gems in our city.
Our Home & Pets
We live in a wonderfully unique neighborhood brimming with diversity - primarily young professionals and young families, of mixed cultures and backgrounds, with a sense of community that has been cultivated for years and is a point of pride among our fellow residents. Within this thriving neighborhood, we live in a classic Chicago greystone, with three bedrooms, a deck and a small back yard, which our two eleven-year-old dogs, Leo and Deogi, love to sunbathe in. There are plenty of playgrounds and jungle gyms, filled with children, within walking distance of our home.
Our Extended Family
We are lucky enough to have Kiana’s family a stone’s throw away and truly enjoy spending time with her brother, grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. We love supporting our grandparents at their senior choir recitals, take our niece to the zoo, and celebrate family traditions with the whole crew. Jamie is one of four siblings and has nine nieces and nephews who we have a ball watching grow up. Whether it’s cheering them on at a soccer match, seeing them sing in a choir concert, or watching them star in the play, one of our favorite traditions is being invited a couple of times a year to attend the Special Visitor’s Day at their schools. Near or far, spending time with and staying in touch with our families is one of our highest priorities. They could not be more thrilled and excited to be supporting us on this journey.
What Led Us To Adoption
Our path to build a family has been bumpy, frustrating, and at times incredibly heartbreaking; however, none of this has diminished our hopes, dreams and commitment to being parents. We have both long been committed to pursuing adoption as part of building a family and realized after we began dating that it was one more thing that we had in common.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence
As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.
Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.
The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.
Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!Return to Waiting Families
