dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for looking at my profile. I imagine that this has been an overwhelming and emotional time, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at my information.

I have always wanted to be a mother and assumed that at some point I would get married and start a family. As I concentrated on getting my PhD, I never found a partner whom I wanted to marry, but I don't want to give up my dream of being a mother. With my endometriosis, my doctor advises me not to try to get pregnant, and since I grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by adopted children, adoption seems like a logical path toward fulfilling my dream of motherhood.

I want you to know that if you choose me, I will strive to ensure that your child grows up feeling loved by both me and my extended family. I will provide your child with a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where they can grow, explore their passions, and always feel deeply supported.

I am open to keeping you involved in whatever way you prefer, including emails, phone calls, or visits. Even if you choose not to have continuing contact with me and the child, they will grow up knowing that a loving mother allowed me to adopt them and that I am eternally grateful for the gift you have given me.

Thank you for considering me as your child's adoptive mother.

With gratitude,
Nicole

About Me

Hi! My name is Nicole—I live in Nebraska, but I'm a Minnesotan at heart. I am part of a close family with a large extended family. I'm an optimist and have a dry sense of humor (before "Dad jokes" was a phrase, my friends/family called it "Nicole humor"). I love to be outside hiking/walking, watching my nieces and nephews play sports, or reading a good book. I played soccer and softball throughout high school and continue to enjoy playing team sports casually since then. I enjoy most types of games—trivia, cards, old-fashioned board games—I love them all. I'm a professor of biomedical engineering, which allows me to continue learning about new technologies and interact with students. I'm one of a small number of female engineering professors, so I'm typically the person students come to when they have a question or just need a sympathetic listener.

My Home & Neighborhood

I live in a newly built house with my two cats. I chose this area because the neighborhood is surrounded by a nature preserve and a stream, so even though I live in a city, my neighborhood is small (just four streets) and surrounded by nature, creating a safe place for kids to ride their bikes and play in each other's yards. My cats like to keep me company wherever I go in the house, sitting on my lap when I work from home or relax in the evening. My deck is screened in so that I don't need to worry about the cats interacting with the deer, turkeys, rabbits, and other wildlife that roam the area.

My Family & Friends

My family (mom, dad, sister, niece, and nephew) is very close—talking and texting multiple times each week. My niece and nephew both play a lot of soccer, and I love to watch their games. When I am invited to speak at a conference (about twice a year), I like to bring a family member with me to see the sights. In this way, my sister and I went to France/Germany, and my parents visited Hawaii with me this past year. Traveling with my family is always fun!
My mom's extended family is very large, with over 80 aunts, uncles, and cousins. I spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with part of the family, playing football in the snow and board games by the fire, eating good food, and listening to stories told by my aunts and uncles. We try to all get together at a park in the summer since we won't all fit in the house for a big holiday party like we had when I was little.
As soon as I told my aunts and uncles that I was hoping to adopt, they jumped into action, asking what they could do to help. Even though we are already large, my entire family is excited to welcome a new member!

What Led Me To Adoption

I have always loved kids and assumed I would have a family. My desire to become a professor meant that I had a lot of schooling before I could start my career. I never found the right partner for me, so I knew that I would be a single mother and would need to ensure that I could provide a stable home environment for a child. Therefore, I waited until I received tenure to start my family. Since I grew up in a neighborhood with many adopted children, adoption seemed like the obvious choice when I received tenure and decided I was emotionally and financially ready to start my family.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
