Dear Expectant Mother,
We have re-written this letter a few times because we want to honor your journey through this process and give you a heartfelt thank you for pausing your eyes on our story. We don’t have first-hand experience with adoption, but we are in awe of the courage, tenacity, and heart it must take to selflessly entrust your child to another family.
After our wedding in 2018, we didn’t have a set timeline for having children but always assumed that our little family would unfold at the right time. We never imagined that infertility would be part of our journey, but in the same breath, the challenges have enabled us to love and appreciate one another on a much deeper level. The possibility of adoption has shed a new light on the meaning and wonderment of family.
We are ready and eager to become supportive, fun-loving parents! We will enrich his or her life with ocean activities, travel, culture, sports, spiritual guidance, and a loving extended family. It would be such an honor to hold your baby’s hand, help him or her discover their own passions, and share some of our traditions and favorites while honoring yours. Your child will always know your story, compassion, and love for them. Whether or not we are the right fit for your little one, we hope that you will find the best match that puts your mind and heart at ease.

Our Hobbies & Passions
We are always up for an adventure and enjoy an active lifestyle! Hiking with our heelers is our favorite thing to do. It enables us to be out in nature, get some exercise and bring our furry sidekicks along for the ride.
Valerie has a passion for photography and loves capturing friends and family with Maui’s beauty as a backdrop! She mostly shoots for fun, but also does some photography work as a passion project. She has a knack for organizing, decorating and crafting. A few other hobbies include pickleball, Latin dancing and beach runs.
Nic’s hobbies revolve around the ocean and competitive sports. In his spare time, he can be found playing soccer, surfing, spear diving, hunting or at the pickleball courts. He is extremely grateful to have been born in Hawaii and live the majority of his life near his family, best friends, and the ocean.
As a couple, we love traveling and diving into the local cuisine and activities. Nic is always on the hunt for surf, and Valerie loves finding unique little boutiques and coffee shops. A few of our favorite vacations include Bali for our honeymoon and Australia with friends.

We are both very close with our families and love getting together for home cooked dinners, game nights, pool time, and slightly competitive pickleball!
Valerie is the youngest of five with three sisters and one brother. Most of her family lives in Kansas, but she has one sister that also resides on Maui with her husband and two teenage sons. Nic has one sister and one 4-year old niece named Rell. We love having her over for aunty & uncle sleepovers. She is excited to have another cousin to swim, fish and play with!
Between our families, we have sixteen nieces and nephews with another niece on the way! We have two heelers named Minion and Panda. Minion is a blue heeler and Panda is a red heeler so people often joke that we have Bingo & Bluey as pets. They are quite spoiled and know how to use their puppy eyes well.
We are surrounded by a community of friends that complement our lifestyles and make us laugh! When we asked our best friends what traits they value in us, they shared that Nic is loyal, reliable, adventurous, and witty. He is always the one cooking at the get-togethers and showing up early to help. Valerie’s friends complimented her compassion for others, thoughtfulness, generosity, adventurous spirit and humor.
What We Love About Each Other
Valerie loves Nic’s attentiveness to his family and friends. He’s always willing to help, from cooking meals to organizing trips or helping his parents. Though Valerie and Nic have different hobbies, Nic enjoys finding new activities they can share. He has a huge heart for their dogs and takes great care in playing with them and making homemade dog food. He is the best uncle and it’s apparent that he’ll be a very hands on, attentive father.
Nic feels that his and Valerie’s differences bring out the best in them as a couple. Valerie’s kindness is her greatest quality, but he loves her quirkiness and joyful personality. She has a big heart and so much compassion for others. Nic knows that his hand-made cards will always have a heartfelt, witty message. Being around Valerie makes Nic want to be a better person.
