Is Hoping to Adopt a Baby

dear expectant mother

Thank you for the selfless decision that you are making for your child, I know that it can’t be easy. Thank you for considering me in your search for an adoptive family.

I am financially stable and being a teacher, I will be there to spend holidays and summers off with them. I understand how to advocate for their education, how to guide without being a helicopter and how to allow them to learn from their mistakes in a healthy way. Being a band director, I know how important it is to be involved in extracurricular activities. I will support them trying all of the things until they find what they are passionate about. I will encourage them to be independent, adventurous and driven.

I can guarantee you that your child will grow up knowing that they are loved. They will know that they are loved by myself and their adoptive family, but also that they are loved by you as well. I guarantee that they will have support and guidance as they navigate life. I will be there through all of the highs and lows offering unconditional love and encouragement.

I will respect whichever type of adoption that you choose. I sincerely thank you for considering me to love and care for your child.

With Love, Liz

My Hobbies & Passions

I am very lucky to do something that I love for a living, being a band director. It doesn’t feel like work when you are doing something you are passionate about. I love that I get to use my passion to teach my students dedication, responsibility, grit, leadership and team work.

Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my son. We like to go to the park and splash pad on the weekends. We enjoy reading books before bedtime and snuggling on the couch in the early mornings. I enjoy intentionally creating experiences for him. My favorite thing in the world is watching him learn and grow.

In the little free time that I have, I enjoy reading and doing craft projects on my Cricut. I am a big fan of historical fiction, SciFi, and parenting books. My best Cricut project so far has been an adoption board which I made for my son and which hangs in his room.

Our Home & Neighborhood

I live in a cute little town on the edge of a larger city in the suburbs of Dallas, TX. My neighborhood is quiet and safe. It has walking trails, parks, pools and neighborhood events. My home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and features a 2nd living room between the kid bedrooms. This makes the perfect place for a play area, as it can easily be seen from the main living room. The backyard is large enough for a playset in the future. The elementary and middle school are both within easy walking distance. A brand new high school is currently being built and will have direct access from my neighborhood. The school district is a large district, but still maintains a small town feel.

Our Family & Friends

I am lucky to have a very supportive network of friends and family. I have one son and as an only child myself, it has always been important to me that my child has a sibling. While I do not have any siblings, I am very close to my cousins, whom my son calls his aunts, and their parents, who he calls Nana & Papa. My parents, Grammy & Boppa, are in the process of building a home 12 minutes away, which will include a grandkids room. In 2.5 years I have only had to hire a babysitter one time. My parents want to be a part of their grandchildren’s lives, including going to all of the sports games, school programs, ect. My best friend lives within walking distance. She has an 8 year old son, who is like a big brother to my son, as well as a 6 month old who would love a little playmate! I am lucky to have an extended band family and a school family as well. My co-teacher adopted a sibling set of 4 and my principal adopted a child who is currently in my band program. They have both been a strong support from the start of my adoption journey.

Adoption in My Life

I adopted my first child from foster care. It was the single most difficult and amazing thing that I have ever done. He came to my home straight from the hospital and has been my son ever since.

He has an adoption board hanging in his room that says the day he was born, the day he came to our home and the day our forever adventure began. We read age appropriate books about adoption and discuss it openly. I want him to grow up knowing his story and knowing that he is loved unconditionally.

While my fostering days are over, I hope to continue to be an advocate for foster care and adoption. I hope to one day be a CASA volunteer and advocate for children in the system.
