dear expectant mother

It feels impossible to put into words what we are feeling as we write this to you. Emotions are certainly high, and nothing feels quite adequate. We can say we are filled with respect, empathy, and gratitude for you. We hope we will get the chance to get to know you and build a strong relationship for what we hope will be a lifetime of connectedness.

We have longed to be parents for as long as we both can remember, and the heartache we have felt on our path to parenthood has been painful, and isolating.

We would be honored to stand by you as you navigate the many emotions you may face as you ultimately make a life-changing decision. Know that before we have met you, we are practicing our child’s birth story and how that story will grow with them as they grow. We are preparing for raw and honest conversations and feelings. We don’t naively enter this process, but we do enter it with a strong marriage, open minds, and open hearts. We are so hopeful this process will bring us to parenthood. While we will never claim to be perfect parents, what we can say with certainty is that we are going to raise your child in a home that prioritizes open-mindedness and kindness toward other people. And above all else, we promise to unconditionally love your child. Thank you with all our hearts for considering us.

About Us

We met each other as apartment building neighbors in 2016. We quickly developed a trusting friendship and then a relationship followed by marriage in November 2019. We are both passionate about our careers and appreciate the work–life balance they offer. Ryan is a business representative for a labor union, and Courtney is a certified child life specialist working in a pediatric hematology and oncology clinic. Our personalities are very similar. We often like to share relaxing moments together and reflect on our goals and values during these times. In our downtime, we enjoy seeing new places, reading books from the library, kayaking, and being with friends and family. We also love to travel and share fun adventures together. We would both describe ourselves as ambitious, trustworthy, warm, and dependable. We both value communication and work very well together as a team.

Our Home

We live in a nautical town on the coast of Rhode Island. We live in a spacious two-bedroom, two-full bathroom apartment. Our building is located on a saltwater river that includes beautiful views of boats, natural wildlife, and stunning sunsets each night. Our street is always lively and filled with great shops, restaurants, and art studios. We are within walking distance of multiple playgrounds, beaches, recreational fields, wildlife refuges, a splash pad, and a bike path. The main reason we chose this community is because we think it would be a great place to grow a family. We absolutely love where we live!

Our Extended Family

We both come from large, blended families. Ryan’s parents both remarried and live locally. Courtney’s mother and her husband live out of state; her father and stepmother live locally. Ryan has a younger brother and an older sister. Courtney has two brothers and two sisters, none of whom are full biological siblings. One of Courtney’s sisters is married and has an infant son, and Ryan’s sister is married with three young children. Our favorite thing to do with our niece and nephews is to bring a “special treat” and spend time outside with them. All of our nephews and nieces live locally.

We also have many cousins, aunts, and uncles who live close by and whom we get to see often. Our extended families often come together over food and enjoy doing Sunday dinners, having birthday parties, and celebrating the holidays.

Courtney’s family resides in a log cabin in the woods with a pond where we look forward to sharing many fun experiences. They also take an annual family vacation to a beach house. Ryan’s parents have a new pool and love hosting family get-togethers. Through Ryan’s work, we have many opportunities to travel with his parents since his father and he work for the same organization. We look forward to growing our family so we can participate in the traditions and events that come with parenthood.

What Led Us To Adoption

We are so excited about the potential opportunity to grow our family through adoption. We have talked about being parents since very early in our relationship and shared a mutual interest in having biological children and children through adoption. We did not anticipate that infertility would be a part of our story but are grateful it brought us to a time and space to pursue adoption. While we have not had any personal experiences with adoption, we look forward to joining the adoption community and continuously educating ourselves.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
