Race of child interested in adopting: Caucasian
Dear birthmother,Hi! We are Erik and Karen from Illinois. We have been married for 6 years and are more than eager to start a family! Thank you so much for your selfless decision in considering adoption, and we feel we would be a perfect fit for your child. We have a very fun and loving relationship and love spending time together with our dog Miller. Your child would follow our lead of a healthy lifestyle with a Catholic upbringing and a love of Disney World, and we are so ready to shower a child with all the love we have to give! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family. We realize how much you love your unborn child. Your love is so strong that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her. Words cannot express how selfless we think you are. We have been together for 8 years. Our life together has been eventful and very fulfilling. We have overcome many hardships together, which have served to make our relationship stronger and our commitment to each other deeper. We were married after 2.5 years of dating, at the age of 24. Our wedding day was full of love and happiness. It was definitely one of the most exciting days of our lives, because we were each marrying our best friend. Our marriage is so wonderful. We feel we complement each other perfectly, and we also bring out the best qualities in each other. We are so looking forward to being parents, and we feel a child will complete our family. Being a stay at home mom has been Karen’s dream since she was a little girl. However, life does not always go according to plan. We struggled with infertility for 3 years. This was a very emotionally draining time. After unsuccessful medical interventions trying to conceive, we felt God had a different plan for us. We know in our hearts that we meant to be parents and raise a child in a house full of love and opportunity. We have so much love in our hearts to give, and we believe that every single child is a wonderful gift. By choosing us, you would be giving us the greatest gift imaginable by adding to our family. About usKaren grew up on the Northwest Side of Chicago. It is a great neighborhood filled with children, parks, and great schools. My dad is a pipefitter and my mom is a secretary. While I was growing up, my mom stayed at home with my sister and me. My grandmother lived 15 minutes away, and we spent lots of time there eating her good Italian cooking. I grew up in a house full of love. My parents set the rules. My sister and I could be described as good kids who followed the rules. As a child, I enjoyed playing softball, taking gymnastics classes at our local park, and going to the library. I still love going to the library!! Erik has lived in Peoria for most of my life, attending a very reputable high school and college. My brother and I remember a very fun and rewarding childhood complete with many exciting family vacations, like the Black Hills, Pike’s Peak and Disney World. My dad is a real estate agent for the local gas and electric company, and my stepmother teaches at the middle school. I always loved sports growing up, but I loved to excel in school also, so I was your prototypical scholar athlete. I was well-disciplined and didn’t get in much trouble. My parents divorced when I was 13, and each have remarried. I still maintain a strong bond with both sides of the family. My mom, stepfather, grandmother and half-brother now live in Arizona, and we talk often, getting together whenever possible. My dad, stepmother, and 2 stepbrothers still live in Peoria, and we love hanging out with them! Our home / Our petsWe live in a wonderful neighborhood on the northern end of Peoria, Illinois. Erik works as a project manager, and Karen recently “retired” from teaching preschool. The decision to leave teaching was fueled by Karen’s desire to be a stay at home mom. She feels very lucky and fortunate to have the opportunity to stay home. Our extended familyWe love being surrounded by our family, most of who still live close to us. Erik’s father and stepmother live just minutes away, and Karen’s sister lives 45 minutes away. Karen’s parents live 2 hours away, but they will be moving closer to us upon retirement. Erik's mother and stepfather live in Arizona with the rest of their extended family also out west; we visit them when able, but we talk frequently! We enjoy spending time with our families. Holidays, vacations, and Sunday dinners are wonderful times that we can all spend together. Our family is the centerpiece of our lives. In Closing...We met in June of 2001. Karen was in Peoria visiting her friend, Megan, who moved here after college. Megan and Erik were next door neighbors and hung out often. Megan introduced us, and we exchanged e-mail addresses. After talking for 2 months, Erik came up to Chicago to see Karen. One month later, we decided to date long distance. We saw each other most weekends and spent a lot of time e-mailing and chatting on the computer. After one year of dating, Karen found a teaching job in Peoria and moved down to be closer to Erik. Facts About HusbandFacts About Wife |
