Are there any costs to me?< back to top There is no cost to you as a birthmother. Adoptive parents pay for legal fees, reasonable pregnancy-related expenses and medical bills that are not covered by insurance or public aid. What is open or semi-open adoption?< back to top In an open adoption, the birthmother may choose the adoptive family rather than having an agency choose one for her. We provide a large selection of loving families that are just waiting to adopt. Birthmothers may decide on the amount of contact they wish to have. Some birthmothers want letters and photos; others may want visits and/or phone calls. The choice is totally up to you, the birthmother, on what meets your needs. What if I go into labor; can you work with me from the hospital?< back to top Yes, we often receive phone calls from the hospital. We can have a family available within hours. Depending on what state you deliver in, we can have an adoptive family take the baby home from the hospital - avoiding the need for foster care. We at Angel Adoption are open to any emergencies on all weekends, holidays, and through the night! Why choose adoption?< back to top Birthmothers come to us for many reasons. She may be unable to financially support her child. She may be at a place in her life where she is not emotionally ready to care for a new baby. No matter what her reason, she is making the decision because she wants what is best for her child. We understand the difficult choices she must make and we are here to support her. How are adoptive families screened?< back to top Adoptive families have been thoroughly screened by a licensed social worker. They will have had a home study evaluation, background check, medical examination, and have been fingerprinted. There are many requirements they must meet prior to being given a license to adopt. What's the next step?< back to top You can also begin to review profiles of our families on-line and select a couple of families that you feel would be a good match for you. We can then contact them for you and arrange for you to speak with them and/or meet with them if you like. The choice is entirely up to you. Remember, we will always be here whenever you need us.
